OBERWERTH WINS RED DOT DESIGN AWARD 2015
Freiburg camera bag - Awarded the Red Dot Award for outstanding design quality
In the first year after the market launch, we were able to win the 1st prize of the internationally coveted Red Dot Design Awards 2015 for innovative and trend-setting design.
Regina Immes, product designer and founder of the Oberwerth brand, and the whole team are delighted with the great recognition that Oberwerth's bag design has received with the Red Dot quality seal.
“We are very pleased that Oberwerth Freiburg was able to convince such a top-class specialist jury. It is a wonderful recognition of our quality promise to realize bags that are long-lasting companions for photographers with excellent craftsmanship using the highest quality materials ", sums up Regina Immes.
Like all Oberwerth products, the Freiburg is completely handcrafted from the first stitch to the last thread. Oberwerth almost exclusively uses materials from Germany. Only the vegetable-tanned cowhide is sourced from Italy for reasons of quality.
The “Red Dot Award” is known across industries and countries as an award for high design quality. The international reputation of the award is reflected in the composition of the top-class jury, which is made up of international star designers. Awarded for the 60th year now, the Red Dot Award is now the largest design competition in the world. In 2015 the jury of experts included design luminaries such as David Andersen from Denmark and Prof. Jimmy Choo from Great Britain. The prize was only awarded to products that clearly stand out from comparable designs due to their excellent design and were able to leave a lasting impression on the jury.
Oberwerth Freiburg received an award in the fashion, lifestyle and accessories product category. After the prestigious award ceremony on June 29, 2015 in Essen, our Oberwerth Freiburg has been included in the permanent exhibition of the house.

About the Red Dot Award
In order to be able to professionally assess the diversity in the field of design, the Red Dot Design Award is divided into three disciplines:
- Red Dot Award: Product Design (our winning category)
- Red Dot Award: Communication Design
- Red Dot Award: Design Concept
The Red Dot Award was created by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and, with around 17,000 submissions per year, is one of the most recognized design competitions in the world. In 2015 it celebrated its 60th anniversary: In 1955 a jury met for the first time to evaluate the best designs of the time. The coveted award, the Red Dot, is the internationally highly regarded seal for excellent design quality.
Award-winning designers, manufacturers and agencies use the Red Dot winner label and receive numerous other winners' privileges, such as the presentation of the winning product on Red Dot Online, in the Red Dot Design Yearbook, the Red Dot App and on Red Dot 21. In addition, the award-winning products were communicated in Red Dot's international press work and exhibited for one year in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen.
